BEAUTY ISN’T ALL

       

Lizzie Velasquez, author of be yourself, Be beautiful, was in high school when she was entitled “The World’s Ugliest Woman” in a YouTube video. She was taunted, harassed and even advised to commit suicide. Imagine a disease, a disorder that you, and only you have in a world population of 6,973, 738, 433! How would you react? How would you continue with your life? And most essentially, what if it concerns your beauty? Lizzie was born with a medical condition that is only known to her and another. She has no adipose tissue and cannot survive well. She has zero percent fat and weight just 60 pounds!!! That’s why, she has to eat every 20 minutes; or otherwise she would die. Velasquez was born in San Antonia, Texas. She was four weeks premature and weighted just 10 ounces.

     Viewers of the video called her “it”, “monster” and much more. Velasquez, however, set four goals: to become a motivational speakers, to publish a book, to graduate a college, and to build a family career. Now 23 years old, she’s been a very good speaker for seven years, and has given more than 200 lectures on developing uniqueness, dealing with bullies, and overcoming hindrances in the way of success. She is specializing in Communications at Texas State University, U.S. where she lives with her close friend. She wrote two books, first book name is “Lizzie Beautiful,” came out in 2010.

    She said to CNN’s Headline News “My heart too desires to be beautiful, I too dream if I was the center of attraction at every ball, I too want to wear stylish outfits and put on make-up…..”
